BASA'S NARROW ESCAPE

R. Basa playing yesterday in the Open Singles of the Lawn Bowls Championship had a narrow escape frour elimination in the first round. He was playing against his own, No. 3. H. Beer, and the two had a close struggle all the way. Beer was leading 18-10 at one stage, but thren to Basa gave the Intter the lead of 19-18, Beer deew level at 19-19 al was lying two in the next hand when Bash managed with his last wood to remove the second shot. In the next head Beer again lay the shot and once again Basu, with his last wood saved himself from defeat by drawing the shot. He then followed this up with a single which gave him the match. The game wont to heads.
