Opening Event on Saturday

HUGE ATTENDANCE AT. NORTH POINT

The first aquatic sports meeting uf the season was held on Saturday night, when despite the threatening rain, a large crowd attended at North Point to witress the first night gain of the South China As-, gociation. The attendance was esti mated at over 2.500.

The standard of swimming was fairly high, especially in the ladies' events which were all won by Miss Yeung Sa King, the winner of last year's open harbour race.

Several novelty races were in cluded in the programme and these proved every bit as entertaining as the more serious competitions.

The final event on the programme water-polo game, between the home Club and the 12th Bat- tery, H.A. The home team won by six clear goals, three geals being

scored in each half.

The prizes were distributed by Mr. T. C. Li, Chairman of the South Chin Athletic Association.

The Chinese Bathing Club held their firet swimming gata yesterday in the pretence of a fairly large gathering of interested spectatore, including the Hon. Dr. R. H. Kote | wall. The standard of swimming was fairly. high, and the most in- teresting event on the programinė was that of the Invitation Relay Race which was won by the V.R.C. with the European Y.M.C.A. a close second.
