At yesterday's meeting of the Legislative Council, the Hon, the Colonial Treasurer (Mr. Edwin Taylor) made an announcement to the effect that the Public Works Loan of 1927 amounting to $4,297,000, bearing, interest at six per cent, will be redeemed by Government on August 1.

Bond-holders, however, will be given the option to convert their 'holdings into a new lean bearing interest at the rate of four per cent, per annum. The bonds will be issued in denominations of $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000, and will available at par.

CHINESE GIRLS ASSIST V.D.MA.

EXCELLENT CONCERT AT ST PAUL'S COLLEGE

Two very clover plays given respectively by the girls of St. Paul's Girls' College and by the Diocesan Girls' School, were pre- sented yesterday afternoon at the former school to a large audience. The concert was to raise funds for the Victoria Diocesan and Mis- sionary Association.
