THE SILK INDUSTRY

EXPORT OF RAW MATERIAL TO BE ENCOURAGED

(ACO MIN NEWS AGENCY).

Naaking. May 1. It is reliably learned that the Ministry of Industry is planning. to float another loan for the relief of the silk industry in the two pro- vinces of Chekiang and Kiangau, The loan will be for $5,000,000.

According to a spokesman of the Ministry, the proceeds of the pro- posed loan will be devoted to the following purposes:

1. 81,500,000 will be used for the encouragement of the export of raw silk; a subsidy of 875 per bale to be granted up to a total of 20,000 'bales.

2. A similar amount will be-ap- propriated for the granting of loans to farmers in order to en-i courage the production of silk...

3. $1,000,000 out of the proceeds of the loan will be used for the! improvement of the breeding of silk-worms and the quality of silk.

4. With the remainder of the loan, that is, $1,000,000 specjal organs will be established in va- rious foreign and domestic ports for the encouragement and promo-
