WINS FOR SOUTH CHINA AND THE ROYAL NAVY

The Senior and Júnior teams of the South Wales Borderers were both beaten in the finals of the Shield competitions on Satur day, the former losing to South China by three goals to one, and In the the latter to the Royal Navy by the odd goal in three. Santor game, the play did not reach a high standard, and a rather unpleasant incident occurred in the later stages when a South China player was ordered off the field for rough play. At the conclusion of the match, Mrs. W. T. Sonthorn gave away the prizes,

The Junior fial produced a much keener and harder struggle than the Seator, and it was not until the last minuts of the gams that the result was decided when the Navy was awarded a penalty.

Three matches were played in the First Division of the League. "The Royal Artillory, after a series of reverses, beat the Chinese Athletic by four goals to one, while the Lincolns were surprising- ly hold to a goalless draw by Kowloon nt Sockunpoo. The Club de Recreio, which boat the South China by two goals to one the previous week, word defeated by the Police by four goals to one at King's Park. By defeating the Royal Engineers in the Third Division, the Lincolns have assured themselves of the honour of being runners- up of that division, while the University registered the biggest sur- prise of the day when they beat the Royal Air Force.

They managed to force a corner, however, and from the spot kick, Wong sent in a shot which entered the top corner of the net, thus regaining the lead for the Chinese. In this match, the Borderers had bord luck in losing to the Navy by two goals to one. Play was much more even than in the Senior game, and it was not until the last minute that the result was decided when the sailors were awarded a penalty.

The Hong Kong Ladies' Hookoy Club,.champions of the Caer Clark Cup League were beaten by the Rest by three clear goals on the Y.M.C.A. ground at King's Park on Satur day.

The Rest forwards proved too fast for the Champions, scoring two goals in the first half through M. Mason and M. Woolley, the latter player added the third goal after the interval.

At the conclusion of the game, Mr. A. A. Dand, captain of the Hong Kong Hockey Club presented the Caer Clark Cup to the HK.

MAMAK TOURNAMENT

By defeating the 20th Battery by three goals to one on the U.S.R.C. ground, the Incognitos have en- haned their chances of winning the Mamak Hockey Tournament. The winners were auperior throughout and led by two goals to one in the first half.

After the interval the Gunners improved considerably, but thoir teamwork robbed them of many lack of understanding and poor chances to score. R. Reed, A. M. Xavier, and J. M. Pinto scored for the Incogs, and C. Hopkins netted the only goal for the Gunners.

Third Corinthian yachting race was won by Gull, sailed by Mr. B. | Nocsa who beat Artemis Mr. G. &. Wood) by 20 seconds in an entry of seven. True Blue, sailed by Mr. H. S. Rouse was third.

Alba, sailed by Major Lochner, easily beat Why Wonder (Mr. J. G. Pilcher) in the "I" and "Y" Class and Toynette (Miss O. Patchett) wồo the “G" Clasa event.

SOME INTERESTING GALLOPS OVER THE WEEK-END

Below will be found the times "clocked" on Saturday at the course. All the new subscription griffine which will be firing for the first time on Saturday were seen work. Their performances, with one or two exceptions were on the slow aide.

Of the other gallops, that of Portia provides an interesting study, while City of Brisbane also showed plenty of speed while The Giraffe, Friar Tuck and Ration looked extremely fit.
