London, March 14.-Sir Godfrey Collins (Secretary for Scotland) announced in the House of Con mons yesterday that he proposed at an early date to take the steps necessary to set up a tribunal to investigate certhin allegations of corruption in connection with the. administration of the affairs of the Corporation of Glasgow.

The announcement was made in reply to Mr. Meliavern (I.L.P., Shettlestone), who asked the Mini:- ter whether he was now able to

announce the setting up of a judi- cil inquiry with regard to the recent. bribery trial in Glasgow' "High Court.

Sir Godfrey Collins said he had given the matter careful consider tion in consultation with the Ad- vocate-General. This had also been the subject of representations made to him by the Corporation of Glas. gow and other bodies,

"The proposal is," he went on, "that certain allegations of cor- ruption in connection with the ad- ministration of affairs by the Cor poration of Glasgow should be in quired into by a tribunal appointed under the Tribunal of Inquiry Evidence Act, 1921.

"In view of the recent criminal proceedings and disclosures in con- nection therewith, there is matter sufficiently definite to fall within susceptible to investigation by a tribunal set up under it..
