DISAPPOINTING YEAR REVIEWED AT ANNUAL MEETING

FAREWELL. TRIBUTE TO MR. HENRY HUMPHREYS

The forty-eighth annual general meeting of Messrs. A. S. Watson & Co., Ltd., was held at Hong Kong Hotel yesterday. Mr. John Humphreys was in the chair, and others present were Mr. J. Scott Harston, Hon. Sir Shou-son Chow, Et., Hezare, A. H. White, A. B. Stewart (Directors), J. A. Tarrant (Secretary), J. M. Wong, Peter Wong, V, P. Waters, G. E. B. Divett, William Paterson, F. 8. Stapleton, D. Wilson, J. D. Humphreys, D. E. Clark, O. Bemaid Brown, P. C. Potts, G. Fotta and Wong Kin Taci (Shareholders).

In roviewing the activities of the Company during the past year, the Chairman said that the accounts, compared with the pro- vious year's, must be considered disappointing. The reason for this decrease in profits, he said, was due to the prevailing financial depression..

After the report had been adopted, Mr. Scott Hurston paid a tribute to Mr. Humphreys; who is shortly leaving for home, for his excellent work for the Company. He said that Mr. Humphreys first came out to Hong Kong in 1889 and had been associated with the Company ever since, (Applause.)
