LONDON, Feb. 12. THE death occurred peacefully to
day of Field Marshal Bir William Robertson.
[Field Marshal Sir William Robertson; one of the greatest figures of the world war, was 73.
years old. His phenomenally suo. cessful military career began in 1877, when he was a private in the the 16th Lancers. In 1898 be was passing through the Staff College, of which he became the head in 1910, and from 1015 until early in 1918 he was Chief of the Imperial General Staff. For his services in the war he was created"a" baronet, received the thanks of Parliament, and a £10,000 grant! Since the war he has spoken with conviction on the futilitly and horror of war: fare.]
