Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's research department was required to answer hundreds of questions during film ing of "Grand Hotel," talkie ver sion of the sensational Vicki Baum atage bit, which will be shown from to-morrow at the Queen's Theatre.
What kind of music would be played by a dance orchestra in a Berlin hotel f What kind of a wagon delivers the bread in the morning? How do Berlin fappers dress? Do most men wear derbies or soft hats in Germany to-day by his wife and two daughters. These were some of the less com. plicated of the eight hundred ques- tions which the Culver City research department estimates it was requir ed to answer during the screening of "Grand Hotel." Each answer, when information had been checked, was written in detail on memoran- dum slips sent to various produc tion officials.
Mr. Oxholm will stay at the Peninsula Hotel for a few days be fore continuing his trip to Shanghai 15.40 and Tientsin. He is accompanied.
