Most of us were interested and intriguad when it was an- nounced that the Hong Kong Philharmonic Soolaty had decided to produce "The Fountain of Youth." Many of us had never heard of it very few of us indeed had seen it in London. What is this Fountain of Youth7, we asked and the Philharmonie Society kept its own counsel-so naturally we want to see for ourselves, Wa found The Fountain of Youth" to be a comie opera, with some very pretty music, quite amusing patter, and offering an opporin- alty for pretty stage settings. The reception given on the opening night showed that the choice of plece made by the Society was warmly approved,

SEVERAL GOOD PARTS One of the things one likes about The Fountain of Youth is that it has several good parts of roughly equal importance, and one of the things one likes about the Philbar- monic Society's production of it is that these major roles are all well taken

The lat ter was probably the larder and less sympathetic though larger part, and one's only criticism of 1 Mrs. Dalebrook was that she did not differentiate. with Bufficient sharpness between her two charac ters, as the old woman and the young girl. It is hard of course to ask a singer to sacrifice any of her better motes, but it would have been more effective.
