Faden seemed to be bowling a little faster than usual, but he pushed up rather a lot of full-tosses the pair were there for the after- noon when Pearce paid a very tame shot to Marsham, who had relieved Yatos, and was caught at first slip, (79-2-14.) Next ball it looked as if Ride was missed at first slip but the umpire signalled a leg bye. In the same over Hayward had a go and was howled. (73-2-28) He had played a nice knock, but was

A run later Mitchell was stumped by Shaw at the second flick-as he had not re covered his ground after jumping out at Margham.

Beck Brightens Things, Beck took two fours to leg and a lofty two over mid-off in Eaden's last over before tea. But as usual the interval got a wicket and he played on to Eaden when he had made four more. Dunkeley had a couple of beautiful fours but then Shaw stumped Ricketts off the same bowler and the Club were out for hundred and soventy-nine,

Navy Follow On.

A hundred and six behind, the started with Shaw and Navy Williams and the former was nearly caught at first slip first ball. Four rum resulted. Duckitt was the unlucky bowler. Pearce carried on at the Yard end. Rune'came alowly and at twenty Ricketts relieved Duckitt. An over or so later Beck went on for Pearea and Shaw drove his first ball, a full toss for four. Thereafter runs came very slowly. The wicket klid not seem to be play ing too well and Beck made an oc- casional one kick up rinstily. At thirty-three Williams returned one to Ricketts, after batting very steadily for thirty-five minutes for five runs. It was the correct game to play as the Navy's only hope was to car down the Club attack, which had started with its tail very much "P

Shaw Ont.

Shaw hit a four over Beck's head but in hooking a short ont he got the ball on his thumb and skied it to short leg where Dunkeley just got to it. The ball kicked badly, and the next one did the same and hit Eaden badly on the arm. Next 1.b.w. to WAR over Marsham Ricketts' fast straight one. Hay- ward then took Beck off and I think rightly as on the wicket Beck was dangerous. Pearee who went on
