Gentlemen,

On Sunday the 3rd, inst. we had record tendance at Fanling; since the war, some 300 members and ladies being present. I pect many members here to-night wore at Fanting during that day I hope birey will be all the more roady to endorse the Committee's view that some form of restriction or limitation is desirable if not ...essential. Restriction of Members.

In the opinion of many members. we have reached the saturation point and restriction in some form or other appears inavoidable. The Club has been loath to take steps because, to some extent, the Royal H.K.G.C. holds a monopoly for this popular recreation in the Co- lony and strict limitation would undoubtedly cause great hardship to- nowcomers. As the-same time it is equally hard on present mem- bers, many of whom have been in- strumental in making the Club what it is, to find that they are shut out except for avery poor time owing to the "luck of the draw."

I now propose the adoption of the Report and Accounts for the year ending 34, After this has Leen seconded I shall be pleased to answer any questions arising out of the accounts, which members may wish to ask. (Applause.)

The adoption of the report was) seconded by Mr. Ritchie and car-j vjed unanimously,

Mr. Dodwell then moved, and Mr. Davidson seconded, the follow- ing resolution:-

That the Resolution passed at the Annual General Meeting held on December 18, 1030, relating the subscription of playing members be -revoked and that from afiar Decem ber 31, 1932, the subscription of all playing members shall be 87 a mouth.

and waiting members and, when the number of full members shall fall below, the fixed limit, "waiting members" present in the Colony shall be promoted to the register of "full mem- bers" in rotation, in the order of registration, provided never- theless that the Committee may in a proper case promote any whether "waiting member,” present in the Colony or not, without regard to his place, in the register, and that the posi tion in the Register of a "wait. ing member who has returned. to the Colony after absence

scheme now recommended will pre- vent chocs later and until such a time as accommodation both in the Club Houses and on the Courses may be increased.

Schame Detailed.

We do not want to entirely shut out newcomers and a scheme put forward by Mr. Archbutt based on that adopted by the Shanghai Golf Club appears to meet the case. The late Committee considered this scheme and I will detail, as briefly as possible, their chief recommenda tiona

(a) Full Members list to be clos- ed when the General Commit- tee consider this desirable. Now applicants will then go on the "waiting list" and will be promoted in rotation when the Committee consider there are. vacancies on the "full" mem- bers list.

(b) Entrance Fees to be such as

the General Committees may from time to time decide for members and or subscribers. (The late committee consider that on election to the waiting list members. shall pay $75 and a further 875 on promotion to fall list).

(e) Members on

the waiting list aud their lady associates will not be allowed to play at Fani- | ing on Sundays and Holidays
