The car of the Bennis aero-rail- way could be run in either diree tion with equal case, but not with equal efficiency. The propellers are loss efficient when running in re- verse. In fact, the question of Cantur.'s attitude towards this plenary session has been causing a great deal of speculation. There were those, it appears, who advocated non-co- operation with Nanking by complete refusal by local members to parti- cipate in the gathering. Others, however, thought support for the ineeting desirable as it would be unwise to widen the breach between parties within the country. present couras may thus be looked. upon as a compromise between the two lines of thought under refer enec, and is no doubt advantageous to the local cause. The presence of a fow delegates, though the num ber of four is significantly few, nevertheless rouders it impossible for Nanking to accuse Canton of non-co-operation, while the absence of the majority may be taken as n hint that Canton is by no means giving in to Nanking in cortain in- portant matters in which its viewa differ from those of Nanking.
