RUSSIAN STAMPS:

PROPAGANDA

Moscow, Nov. 7.-An exhibition of postage stamps has been opened hore by the Commissariat of Com- munications in connection with the celebration of the fifteenth anni versary of the October Revolution. It is the first All-Union, exhibition of its kind and aims at showing the postage stamp as a weapon of pro- paganda in addition to it repre senting a payment for service.

The exhibition contains stamps. with remarkable which unfold completeness the story of the revolu-

tionary movement in Bussin prior to 1917, the October Revolution of that year, the years of the civil war and foreign intervention and the present period of socialist construction. Over 30,000 differea: stamps jesues are being exhibited in addition to a great collection of postal cards and paper money.

The Philatelical Society of the U.S.S.R. is in charge of the exhibi«' tion This society held a highly successful exhibition of stamps in

Berlin at the recent International Philatelical Exhibition.

The State Publishing Hours of the U.S.8.3. has contributed to the celebrations by publishing a largo volume entitled "Writers' and Poots Gift to October," a sympo- sium to which writers and poets of 20 different nationalisties living in the U.3.8. have contributed.

Among them are. Ukrainians, Jews, White Russians, Georginas Tartars,

Chuvashes,

Mordova Bashkirs, Mongoliani, Burists and Gypsies.
