Drambuie

Prince Charlie's Liqueur

-

The origin of “DRAMBUIE" and the basis of its production give it a character distinct from other Liqueurs,

Brought to Scotland by a follower of Prince Charlie in 1745; the recipe- was given to a MacKinnon of Skye, and the secret has ever since remained in one family. The MacKinnon of that day employed the materials which were available, and in place of Brandy a fine old Whisky was used. This, along with heather honey and herbal ingredients of recognised value as side to digestion produced a Liqueur which soon gained the post of honour on the tables of Highland Aristocracy, and is now known world-wide.

Publican's License.

With reference to the last-naued license, application was inade to the Board for Publican's License, without bar, by Mr. A. Ogilvie, who was represented by Mr. O. E. ('. Martom.

The Clini What is it you are applying fort

Mr. Murton: A publican's license without bar.

The Chairman: What exactly does that entitle you to do?

Mr. Marton.: It entitles my elient to sell liquors on any part of the premises to residents who wante a drink or who may want to enter- tain friends.

Mr. Marton went on to say that Hotel was a new and moderas hotel in every sense of the word,

The Chairman said that the Police had suggested that the pro- per type of license for the Airlie Hotel was, not a publican's license without bar, but rather a Hotel Adjunct License. He asked Mr. King exactly what was covered by such a license.

Mr. King replied that such a license would onable the proprietor to sell to boun fide residents and their friends liquors in the dining roon. In answer to the Chairman, Mr. King said that residents could have their friends in and be served with refreshments.

Restaurant and Dancing Hall. The Chairman asked. Mr. Marton why he applied for the wider power covered by the publican's license. Mr. Marton replied that it was proposed shortly to open a restaurant and dancing hall in the premises. In those circumstances it would be convenient both for the quents and for the hotel to have a full license. The new dance hall was not yet ready hat it would extend over a very large area. Ho asked if he might know why the Police suggested an adjunct license instead of a full license. He did not know what objection there was to the granting of a full license f

Two Appeals Survived. * Previously during the morning. ho had survived two appeals for 1.b.w. At 398, he attempted to turn a ball from Hird to leg and was bowled off his pads. He had con- tributed 169 runs to the total; com- piled in five hours and 30 minutes. His scora ineluded twenty-two boundary hits.

The slowness of his progress to day may be judged from the fact that he only obtained 25 out of the 60 runs put on before his dismissal. Scores, New South Wales:- (Fingle- ton 119 not out, McCabe 67, Tate
