Shortly after Gash's equalising effort Bolton, in the twenty-fifth minute of the game, backheeled a pass from Gash, and, with Rodger unsighted, the ball entered the net to give Shanghai the lend. Northern team's success was short- lived, however, for Cheng met a centre from Baldry with tremendoua force to leave Chow standing help. less with a grand equalising shot.

Five minutes before the interval Darky Chen, the Shanghai left winger, gained possession when un- marked, and easily beat Rodger to give Shanghai the lead by 3 goals to 2.

Carrying all before them from the kick off in the second half, the Hong Kong forwards swept down the fold and scored the equalising goal when Wong Mei Shun put the final touches to an excellent move- ment. Only a very short while elapsed before Hong Kong gained the lead. From a perfect cross kick, from Baldry on the left Howe got his head to the ball to score spectacular and brilliant goal.

From now on it was a story of missed chances by the Hong Kong forwards, the Shanghai players be ing too occupied defending their own goal to be really dangerous.

FIRST DIVISION

NAVY v. RECREIO.

3

The Navy proved too good for the Club de Recreio in the only first division match decided. The game was played before a fairly good at-

thdance on the Railway ground and resulted in an easy victory for the Navy, most of the play, being confined to the Recreio side of the ground.

The sailors could have scored many more than five goals had their forwards made use of their opportunities, but they failed badly in front of the goal on several oren. sions and allowed Ogley, who was playing in goal for the Recreio to bring off some very spectacular

BAVCS.

Perkins opened the scoring for the Navy and Davies added two mors before the interval. There was a very exciting bit of play just before the interval and a penalty for fouling was awarded against the Recreio. The spot kick was taken by Davies and Ogley brought off a save, but Ogley moved į before the whistle and, the spot kick

was taken again but this time also, Davies shot straight at Ogley who stopped the shot, amid much cheer- ing.
