DRAMBUIE
Prince Charlie's Liqueur
The origin of "DRAMBUIE”. and the basis of its production give it a character distinct from other Liqueurs.
Brought to Scotland by a follower of Prince Charlie in 1745, the recipe was given to a MacKinnon of Skye, and the secret has ever since remained in one family. The MacKinnon of that day employed the materials which were available, and in place of Brandy a fine old Whisky was used. This, along with heather honey and herbal ingredients of 'recognised value aa aide to digestion produced a Liqueur which soon gained the post of honour on the tables of Highland · Aristocracy, and is now known world-wide

Transport has been vastly bene fitted by the perfecting of the oil engine, an improvement which made way for the invention of the acro- plane, and the aeroplane had in its turn reacted enormously upon the perfection of engines which had made ita coming possible.
The general health and welfare of the people had made much pro- gress in these 50 years. The accreta of the cause and of the communica- tion from man to man of such scourges na typhoid fever, yellow fever, and malaria bad been dis- covered and thoss discoveries had opened the way for a rational stamping out of diseases which had decimated the population of many parts of the world from time imme morial.

The building which Glasgow Cer poration are to eract at the corner of St. Enoch Square and Argyle Street will make another con- tribution to the changing architec ture of Argyle Street. In the last ten years there have been so many new buildings put up between Union Street and Glasgow Cross as to change the character of Argyle Street mora perhaps than any Glas gow thoroughfare. This modernisa tion is to be welcomed, for Argyle | Street was in danger not long since of falling inta dinginess, but with the buildings recently completed,
