The willingness to restrict is unquestionably due to the rapid fall in tea prices, since last spring, but it is hoped in these trying:con | ditions that the growers will avoid the danger of pante remedies.

If the condition of the estates is satisfactory, shareholders should support the scheme as the arrange. meats being made will ensure a subscription of at least 1,200,000 of new shares.

Amsterdam Views.'

LONDON, O. 17. The Amsterdam correspondent of the Financial Timer says a de fuite declaration on the tea resi striction scheme which is at pro- sent being studied in Britain, is expected very shortly.

PRODUCTION OF BRITISH TEXTILES

RESULT OF NEW TISCAL POLICY,

Encouraging progress is being made with the arrangements for the textile section of the next British Industries Fair, which will be held at the White City from February 20 to March 3, 1933.

The textile acction will occupy some 15,000 square feet more space than was required for the exhibi- tion of last February, and will re- flect the advance in British textile productions which the change in the country's fiscal policy has stimulated. A complete hall will be devoted to Scottish woollens in the piece and made up, and the Yorkshire manufacturers will for: the first time be substantially presented.

Another development will be the addition of a large hall devoted to soft furnishings. All the leading British houses, it is reported, have combined to provide the largest dis. play ever produced in this parti cular field.

FOURTH LARGEST CROP IN

HISTORY OF DOMINION.

Winnipeg, Canada. The fourth largest wheat crop in the history of Canada is being harvested. Official Government estimates place the total at 407,000,000 bushels, which is slightly below the figures for 1923 and 1927 and almost 100,000,000 bushels under the all-time

set in 1928.: Production, was more than 50 per cent. în advance of the | 301,000,000 bushels harvested a year ago. On July 31 there was a carry- over of old wheat in the country |of 131,000,000 bushels..

Data produced in Canada this year were estimated at 422,000,000 bushels, barley at 88,000,000 bushels, rye at 12,000,000, and minor crops were sufficient to bring the grand total of Canadian grain to billion bushels..
