GREAT DAY FOR GUIDES AND BROWNIES
Yesterday, an Mrs, Southern said in her speecli, was a great day in the history of the Guides of Hong Kong. It was marked by the open- ing of the Girl Guide Headquarters a well built and well equipped building standing on the Military Headquarters ground close by Flag- stadt House.
All the Guiding and Brownies, of the Colony were present to attend the formal opening, and after, with pride and pleasure on their facen, to go over their new headquarters.. But happy as these young people were, they were not happier dian those to whose work and gençrosity they owe the Hut,

A Letter From the Ohlot Guide.
I have just received a delightful. letter which will thrill all Guides and Brownies. It is from Lady Baden-Powell, Chief Guido of the World, and I think it in wonderful that she is alle in the midst of her strenuous life to spare time to write to us herself, and to send us good wishes from herself and the Chief Scout. We shall frame her lettor later on and keep it as a permanent treasure in the Hut. This is what she says:--
My Dear Mrs. Southorn,-
I have just had your letter, tell- ing me that the Sandilands Hut is actually now almost in being, and that it is to be opened aext muuth.
This is wonderful news indeed, and I would like, if I may, to send you my very warm congra tulations on this very big step in the history of the Guide Move- ment in Hong Kong.
I am quite sure that by having a central place where the Guide Organisation can be directed from, a homo where Guides can rome to, and where people interested can come together for talks and friendly meetings, you are laying splendid foundations for the fature of the Movement.
It is splendid to realise how Bounilly the Movement is airendy established, but we must always

Through the kind. ness of General Sandilands we are entering into possession of a home of our own, and I am glad to say he has kindly allowed us to call it "The Sandilands Hut." So far, like Old Mother Hubbard, our chief possession has been a cupboard, lent us by the Helena May Com mittee, to whom we are most grate ful.
