BIG CROWD AT MACAO RACES.

JACKIE NOROMHA WINS NOVICE RACE ON

OUTSIDER: BIG DIVIDEND RETURNED.

CITY OF MELBOURNE ALMOST BEATEN IN THRILLING FINISH.

BY MORNING DEW."]

Although this weather in Hong Kong yesterday morning looked anything but promising, the sun shone brightly in Macao where the Macao Jockey Club hold their Fourth Extra Racó Meeting.. A large crowd of raes fans from Hong Kong made the trip to the Portuguese Colony and were rewarded with some thrilling sport and big dividends.

City of Melbourne, a red-hot favourite for the Australian race, gave his supporters a great fright when he appeared to be unable to stand a hot challenge from The. Rainbow, a comparative out. sider, and it was only thanks to the splendid efforts of Mr. Frost that the pony was able to win by a neck.

"Jackie" Neronta, who had been absent from local racing for some months, roda Espy beautifully to win the Novices ráce by a head from Gallant Fox. He paid a dividend of almost. 20-1.

Amoy Handicap,

There were ging startors for this race, the hotting being fairly even. Aftor one false start, the field got away evenly with the exception of Drian, who was left at the post.

The last race, which drew seven starters fell to Mr. W. Roza, who rode Tien Feng Shan smartly to win by two lengths from New King, who was four lengths in front of Arminius. These three ponies were in a class by themselves in
