CEREMONIAL ARRIVAL OF KING NEPTUNE AND HIS COURT.

SUCCESSFUL DRIVE FOR M.C.L. FUNDS.

Repulse Bay beach was the scene of a huge Sports and Swim- ming Gala yesterday when the Ministering Children's League beld their Second Annual Gala. The efforis of the organising committed were rewarded with a perfect day for the carnival, a cool breeze making the conditions pleasant for competitors and spectators alike,

The scene on the beach presented a colourful spectacle, the various side-shows and landings being draped with multi-coloured bunting and Angs.

The first event took place at 2.30 and each of the succeeding events in the long programme was run off with machine-like precision.

Entertainment for the children was supplied by a formidable. array of chutes, slides, serial railway, fish pond and wishing well, all of which were in constant demand by the hundreds of children whose presence lent a carnival spirit to the proceedings.

CHILDREN'S PYJAMA PARADE.

Assistance was rendered by men from H.M.S. Parthian, Phoenix and Tamar in conducting the beach events and side-shows. The swim ming events were supervised by men from H.M.S. Tamar, under Com mander Morris.

At 4 o'clock, when the official party arrived. there were more than 2,000 people on the bench.
