Mr.T. M. Hazlerigg, Crown Solicitor, said that the complain. ant, Mr. J. Groen, was a dealer in jawels in Soerabaya, Java. On the 17th August last year he (the com plainsat) had a conversation with the fugitive and subsequently took jewels to his house The terms
were that when the jewels were sold, the money was to be paid over to Mr. Groen. A few days later the fugitive left Soerabaya, together with the jewels valued at 2,200 guilders.
