M. Borotra, who was the guest of honour, referred to the necessity for lawn tennis players, especially young players, to maintain a sunse of proportion on the subject of the part played by sport in lile.

Subsequently, in a talk with a Moring Post representative at the Curlton Hotel, M. Borotra ampli- fed his remarks.

"There is a danger in these: modern times of the youth, who read of and see the champions of sports as idols, feeling that they should devote their life to attempt- ing to equal or emulate them," he Kaid.

World,

This danger is, perhaps, not sa Apparent in England as elsewhere," he went on, "because you as country have a well-balanced mind in connection with sport, and hav ing practiced it for fifty years or moro there is less danger of your making too much of it.

"But it would be a great pity if the youth of this country, hs & result of what they read and hear, were to grow up with an idea that to become a champion is as desir able as to continue in study or business. I know well that z boy who excels in one sport or another may have difficulty in avoiding tho demands that may be put upon him by his school, his college, and ulti- mately his country. But I do say emphatically that there are prob- ably not anore than, say, one in a thousand, who should adopt this

course,

"It should be possible for boys to know whether they are likely to be really successful in a particular sport. Then they have ha excuse to go on with it. But if they are in doubt about their ability, or if they are uncertain whether they will be successful, may advice is to give it up, without wasting further time. Even if they decide to con- tinue, they should and time to com- plete their studies.

Beery plays a broken-down fight champion, pathetically striving for a "erme-back" and his lost sup romacy. Jackie is his son who, notwithstanding what anyone says, thinks he's the greatest man in the world.

A trade notice states:~~

Depicting the adventures of a fac tory girl in a small town, who! avowed she would never marry any man unless he possessed at least a million dollars, and who kept her vow only to discover that wealth is a poor substitute for love and romance," She Wanted A Million- aire," the Fox drama featuring Joan Bennett and Spencer Tracy in, the leading rôles, is now nttrac?. ing capacity crowds to the King's Theatre.

Miss Bennett, portrays the pari of the girl, who, without her know. ledge, is entered for a local beauty contest by ambitious friends, which starts her on the way to gilded riches but tarnished love. Tracy appears as a young railway locom tive engineer, deeply in love with the girl, who refuses to listen to his i pleadings and promises, James Kirkwood impersonates a rich anu lustful rounder who satisfies Miss Bennett's desires for riches Dit shatters her ideals of romance.

The film is a clever interweaving of spectacle, pageantry, drama, and romance with a sparkling tinge ». humour. In the scenes showing thei national beauty contest at Atlantic City and the Quat's Arte Ball in: Paris, eight winners of actual de auty contests are present among a galaxy of the most beautiful girls of Hollywood.
