As one expert said, "a discovery of this nature would be of great interest to the home trade perhaps, bat out here, the European popula tion are quite content to change their light clothes at least once a day, and as the additional price of the improved material would be prohibitive to the Chinese, there would be no real demand for the product.
Technical opinion, further, was sceptical as to whether the discovery would really amount to anything of any great importance.
If it was of revolutionary im. portance, we most certainly would have heard of it as soon as any body," said another leading im porter.

CANTON NOT SURPRISED
WITH NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent,)
Canton, Aug. 0. News of the resignation of 31r Wang Ching Wei, President of the Executive Yuan, though given due prominence in the Press, has been calmly received in Canton official circles.
It is generally believed here that the true cause for Mr. Wang's uction lies farther than mere dis- satisfaction with General Chang Hsueh Liang's policy of non-resis- tance. There has been circulated. here for some time reports of in- evitable friction between Mr. Wang and General Chiang Kai Shek, the recent co-operation of the two na- tional leaders having all along been looked upon with disfavour by the Canton authorities Mr. Wang's resignation is, therefore, inter- preted as being the manifesta- tion of his rupture with the Nam king generalissimo, who is alleged to be returning to his reign of
dictatorship."
