The following account of the Home Fleet, as it was when reently reviewed at Weymouth, by HM the King, should be of special interest in Hong Kong, the furthest Aung outpost of the British Nary.

It is the only great navy which is manned by long-service seamen, who, with their offers, from the real backbone of British Rea

Renown and Repulse are probably the handsomest capital ships affcat, but their fighting power is scarcely. equal to their immense size and cost. There are six aircraft-earrièrs on the Navy List, ranging from Hermes (of 10,030 tons) to the giant Eagle (of 22,000 tons), all being of

Of 31,000 tons displacement, they can steam at 23 knots. The entire main armament of nine 10in. guns is mounted in triple turrets on the forecastle, while funacl, saperstrue ture, and secondary battery are set well aft.

Grotesque as they look in pro- fib, these twin ships are never theless the most powerful battle ships in the world.

Cruiser Flost:

Di cruisers we have approxi mately fifty in serviceable con- dition, only fifteen of these being of post-war design. The latter are large vessels mounting sin, guns, and of very great speed, but they are deficient in protection. There are also four older cruisera entry- ing 75in, guns, which must soon be scrapped under the London Naval Treaty.
