EMPIRE PRODUCTS TYPHOON MISSES THE BANK APPEAL

FAIR.

DECISION TO HOLD FUNCTION EVERY YEAR.

MEETING OF EMPIRE DAY

COMMITTEE.

In view of the marked success of the first Empire Products Fair held in Hong Kong, it has been decided to make the event an annual fuse tion. This was the decision reach- ed at a meeting of the Empire Day Committee held at Government House on Tuesday, at which Mrs. W. T. Sauthorn presided.

The meeting was convened for the purpose of presentation of the reports of the General Committee and the various sub-committees, those present besides Mrs. Southern being Mr. F. C.. Barry, Hen. GUSTY WEATHER EXPERI. ENCED YESTERDAY.

The first typhoon of the season threatened Hong Kong yesterday, and although there were all the indications of a severe blow visit. ing the Colony during the day, the typhoon missed Hong Kong, pass ing about 150 miles south of the Colony.

It was exceedingly gusty in the morning and at 7.45 a.m., the No signal, which had been hoisted since 3.23 pm, on Wednesday, was taken down and the No..:7. signal (black druin) was hoisted.

Knots of people, eager to learn the latest about the course and direction of the typhoon, gathered outside the official notices at the Pust Office and at other place along the Praya.

An official statement issued by the Royal Observatory at 11 o'clock yesterday stated-
