The Vacant Places..
There remains the question of the two vacant places. It appears to have been the considered opinion at { Oxford at the beginning of the tour that the fifth place lay between W. O'B. Lindsay and Van der Bijl. In view of the fact that after a late start Lindsay has played two good innings, and of the fact that (a) heat the Indians by 6 sets, has prior experience of Lord's and (b) that he is a reserve wicket- keeper, I feel pretty sure that the place will go to him if St. The success of his bateman will, I imagine encourage Melville to fill up bis last place with a bowler, without bothering so much about his batting. There is the more rea- son to suppose sons both "Barlow and Oldfield have shown distinct signs of getting runs. This would | B. perhaps militato against T. M. Hart's inclusion as he did nothing Inst acason for the Varsity in the bowling line. I imagine R./M. R. Scott who, frankly, I fail to trace anywhere thugh I know he is a Senior and J. H.
