The mid-week county cricket programmo was very severely in- terfered with by the ruin, and three of the matches had to be aban-. doned without a single ball being bowled The other games also came in for some attention from Jupiter Pluvius, and on the whole the wickets were rather on the wet side.

This match took place at Swan- sea and resulted in a win on the first innings for Surrey who made 203 in their first innings, and to which total Glamorgan could only.
A feature of this match was the sporting declaration of the Notts skipper, who, in an effort to play the match to a finish, closed his first innings after seven wickets had fallen for a total of only 86 runs! Middlesex then went in and replied with 188,' Sam Staples taking. wickets for 80 runs, and after Notts
