WONDERFUL STAG RETURNS TO FORM

SPECTACULAR FINISH TOC CLASS WHITSUN HANDICAP HOT FAVOURITE UNPLACED.

GLENEAGLES HARD PRESSED BUT UNBEATEN,

BY MORNING DEW

་་་

The feature of Saturday's Race Meeting was the brilliant win of Wonderful Stag in the Whitsun Handicap " Class. The pony "finished with a terrific burst of pace over the Inst furlong and tamo through in a really spectacular manner to snatch the verdict from Marquis Hall, which had been leading all the way round. Indians fuished third in this race and might have fared better had ha been taken out to join the leaders earlier in the race than, at, the head of the straight

:

The favourite for the Fourth Aggregate Stakes, Glenongies, was heavily backed to win, but he had a very difficult time of it in the last quarter when first Bag, and Baggage and then Sadko: challenged him. Bag and Baggago was unable to stay the pace in the straight, nor did Sadko hold Gleneagles for very long when it came to the push in the straight Mr. Leo Frost on the winner chose to make his own pace and the race was extremely fast. King's Bounty, with plenty of running in him, stayed together with the winner for the first mile, while Bag and Baggage and Sadko 'waited behind within striking distance.

King's Bounty fadel out at the head of the straight, and then first Bag and Baggage and then Sadko drew up with the favourite, but both had to give way to the terrific pace which Gleneagles was able to turn out.
