CHINA'S REPLY TO JAPAN

SHANGHAI, March 10. China's reply to the Japanese terms. for peace was handed to Sir Miles Lampson to-day for transmission to the local Japanese authorities.

The reply says that the Chinese Government having accepted the Resolution of the Assembly is prepared to enter into nego. tiations in accordance with the terms of the Resolution passed at Geneva on March 4, and on, the understanding, firstly, that such st negotiations are limited to matter pertaining only to the definita' cessation of hostilities and the complete withdrawal of the Japanese forces and secondly, that no condition be attached to such withdrawal,

The reply goes on: The receipt, through Sir Miles Lampson, of a communication from Japanese authorities makes it clear that the Japanese are equally ready to enter into the proposed zego tiations, the Chinese Government considers, therefore, the way is open for commencing such negotiations."
