HUMPHREYS ESTATE AND

FINANCE CO.

Mr. Henry Humphreys presided no the annual general meeting of the Humphreys Estate and Finance Co., Ltd, yesterday, when he re- "viewed a successful yoni's work.

Addressing the gathering.. the 'Chairman said: -

The profit is $201,811.15 more than the previous year, entirely due to the sale of property in Kow- Joon-without which the prot would have been somewhat less. Turning to the accounts, you will notice that instead of an overdraft ∙of $186,847.34 with our bankers last year we have now a credit balance of $313,713.14, partly due to sale of property and partly to the new issue of shares. The item under! the heading of Liabilities" Pre- mium on Now Shares" $125,000, your Directors propose to trasfer

Another item of the Ansots, “In- reatments at cost $352,085.50 ap. pears in the accounts for the first time. The investments consist of shares in Hong Kong Companies which your Directors consider "gilt edged." As we were only getting one per cent from the Bank for our credit balance in current account we thought it advisable to get ai considerably larger return by pur- chasing local stocks.

Directors' Remuneration.

I do not think there are any other items in the accounts which call for comment, but I should like to mention that it is proposed to Increase the remuneration at pro- sont paid to your Directors and the allowance paid to your General Managers to cover office rent, salary of secretary and clerks.
