Presiding at the annual meeting of the Kowloon Residents' Association yesterday, Mr. F. C. Mow Fung reviewed the activities of the Association for the year, and, in the course of his remarks, drew attention, among other things, to the need of adequate bos. pital facilition, public dispensoriva, "poztal facilities, the need of police station in the Kowloon Tong uros and the lack of fire appliances in the rural areas,
Drawing attention to the signs of progress everywhero in the Peninsula, the President prophesied, a great future for the Periin- sula, mentioning that it was no longer a puroly residential quarter, but contained most of the industrial plants, wharves and godowns of the Colony, bosides hócoming the headquarters of many offices.

Alluding to the financial stringency is often stressed by the... Government as a reason for hampering what he considered neces- sary public works, Mr. Mow Fung said that the cost of adminis tration in the Colony had rozchod a high figure and added that the Retrenchment Committee's report was awaited with interest.

I will at one express the opinion chat the new building should be so planned that it could be capable of such extensión and altoration as to be eventually converted into the maiu Post Office Gonornk for the Colony. At present (and there is not likely to be any chunga) all important on-bornó- maila aro landed in Kowloon: when. the Canton-Hwikow railway is com- pleted, thus linking up Calais with Hong Kong, rail-borne mails will probably assumo largo proportions and will of course be taken from the train at Kowloon.
