JUNIOR CRICKET NOTES.

WILL THE INDIANS RETAIN

THE SHIELD?

KOWLOON GOING ALL OUT TO CAPTURE HONOURS,

[BY L.B.W."

The league cricket sensog is draw- ing to a close and this week-and Will And the destiny of the junior shield decided for another suason. At present the Indians (holders) and Kowloon are running dock-to. nook for championship honours but the latter hold the slight advantage of having one point more than the Bookumpoo Club with the sarau, pinber of matches pipyed,

fairly weak Civil Service

The Indians visited the Club and they did well to return with full: points. I notice that Divott agais turned out "for the Club and had quite a successful aftórnoon with the hall, taking 5 wickets for just a little, over ten runs apiece. He is a tower of strength to the Club, seconds, for braides being a vory good howler, he, can make ruņa na well on occasion. It is a pity that tip does hot turn out regularly for them, for with all respect to the Olah, say are not living up to their name as the premier cricket club in the Colony. This, perhaps, an be explained by the fact that their members go in for too many games Etone time and that is fatal. If one is to have a successful season af cricket, then let it be "éricket, and leave aside rugger and hockey. One cannot play it three games and shine in every one of them.

The Match Reviewed.

To go back to the match. The Indians were not at full strength,. Aroulli having been taken, for the senior eleven that afternoon' but des pite that they did very well. To be perfectly frank, I do not think that made a lot of difference for as fr as I can recollect, Arzulli has only came off once with the ball this season and this was when they play. ed Recreio.

Anyway, the Indians had first knock and thanks to a good innings. by A. R. Suflad, who appears to have recovered some of his form, put up 133 runs. Ismail, their stamper hit out to good effect for g but the rest of the team, with the possible exception of A. R. Abbas (17), did none too well.

This total was by no means a match-winning one, but as it turned put later, it was beyond the Club Gahagan and Divets started the innings for the Club but they were both out before they scored and it was loft to F. A. M. Elliott (58) to save the side froin what threaten- ed to be complete collapse. A. Mi Rumjaha did all the damage with the ball, bis analysis being 12--1-31-ð. TENNIS NOTES.

200 MILES FOR A MATCH.

SHAMEEN TOURNAMENT.

[BY SALADIN:}

I have just heard of a case in. which a local player travelled about 200 miles in a day for a match. "He is none other than S. A. Rumjaän, who, just for the satisfaction of trying conclusions with Leung Tak Kwong, went to Canton, by ar- rangement, on Sunday last by the morning train and returned by the afternoon train. The two met at the Banton Citizens. Tannis Club, the venue of the recent interport between Hong Kong and Canton. Rumjahn won in straight sota, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. understand he will make the same trip during the next week- and to meet Bodiker, the other orack player.

The scope is somewhat surprising, in view of Canton's impressive suc cess n Blágles in the interport. Theu Loung beat both M. W. Lo and E. C. Fincher without being vory seriously extended. On their Ehome courts Bodiker and Leang Tak Kwong are pretty hard to beat, so that the result of the local 0. M. R.

player's coming match with Bodiker will be awaited with interest. To Back
