TWO CENTURIES IN LEAGUE CRICKET.

TEDDY FINCHER AND RICHARDSON BAT BRILLIANTLY.

INDIAN RECREATION" CLUB NOW FAVOURITES

A

FOR SENIOR SHIELD,

Some very interesting longue cricket matches were desided" ovor the week-end, in one of which, the Kowloon-Civil Servicu game the superiority of the bat over the ball was once again de- monstrated. No lea than 430 runs wore scored during the after- noon's play and tliese were obtained for the loss of only six wickets.. J. E. Richardson, who opened the innings for Civil Sorrico, scored a hundred before boing caught off Goodwin. he was ably supported by R 1. Griffiths who made 31, the side eventually de- elaring at 913 for 4. Not to be outdone, however, the "Kowloon team went for the runs right from the" start" and thanks to brilliant. 143, not out, by "Teddy" Fincher, they were $19 for 2 when stumps woro drawn.

At Sookunpoo the Indians brightened their chances of retain- ing the senior division shield when they took full points from the Hong Kong Cricket Club. The Indians scored 160 when they took Arst knock, but so stondily did some of the Club bate play that at 'ohn point a draw scomod inevitable Judicious change of his bowling on the part of the ER.C. skipper, howover, had the effect of seeing a wicket fall just when a stout partnership parad likely and the Indians eventually won by 62 runs.

"In the junior division the two favourite teams. Kowloon and I.RO. juniors, scored victories over Civil Service and H.K.C.C. respectively. They meet on the Kowloon ground next week in the match which will decide the dosting of the shield for the present stason. Plying at home, C.C.C.took full points from the Univer sity.
