part of the afternoon, he had been practising at the K.I.T.C. but And ing the wind disturbing, he von- tured on to the steamer with Taui. Wa P, with whom he had been practising, and obtained permission. to play there.
The Court.
To his pleasant surprise, he found awek laid-out court in the opon air. On the Sports Deck, which is topmost, it is situated aft just be- hind the third funnel. The count has ample running space all round, and is well protected from wind, besides enjoying, security from the distractions of other activities aboard. A wall 20 feet higli behind one bass line forme a very striking and useful background, while" run- ning along other side-line, there: are wire nettinge and screens 16 feet high. Similar netting and screams, 10 feet high, behind the other base line
completee the boundary of the court." The sur roundings are all painted green, which provides excellent effects. There is also seating accommoda- tion above the screens on both sides.
The Game.
The court itself is very true, and pleasant to play on. It was Run- jahn's Brat experience on board sur face, but he found is very much to his liking, with the exception that running was not as easy as 11 grass courts. Play on such surfact, in his opinion, is faster than on lawn, but the regularity of bounce unables beginners to pick the yama up quicker Spaldings" balls for grass courts were used, which Ram- jahn found to be very satisfactory.
Mr. Wood, a passenger, Tani Wai Pul, and 8. A. Rumjahn spent some two hours on the court. When ask- od regarding his experience of play. ing when the ship was at sea, Mr. Wood said it made little differenco as the ship rolled very little.
HARMSTON'S CIRCUS
MOVING.
ANOTHER GOOD SHOW LAST NIGHT.
The final Kowloon performance of the Harmston Circus last night was a Atting climax to a remark ably successful season, Every act maintained the high standard one has come to expect of this show, and although the audience was not a particularly big one ths artistes were accorded the usual enthusins- tie reception.
There is no cause to doubt that a very large number of the Kow- loon devotees of the circus mill find time to cross the Harbour wo see the show. at Wanchai, where it opens again on Tuesday, while tine Hong Kong residents will be glad that the circus has moved a little nesrer home.
Whilst it has been at Kowloon the circus has convinced us that it is by far the best show of its kind that has been in Hong Kong for many a long day, and it deserves to repeat its Kowloon success at Wanchal.
Don't forget the date: at Wan- chai Reclamation on Tuesday.
