NEW TERRITORIES AGRICULTURAL SHOW
FALLING OFF IN ATTENDANCE AND NUMBER OF EXHIBITS.
H.E.
THE GOVERNOR APPEALS FOR CO-OPERATION AMONG THE FARMERS,
14
The New Torritories Agricultural Show was hold on Saturday and yesterday at Shoung Shui, the arrangements being made, us usual, by the Agricultural Association; The Show was declared open by H.E. the Governoz (Sir Willinen Peel, K‚D, E., K.C,M.G.).. who was accompanied by Lady Peel. The Colonial Secretary (thu Hoo, Mr. W. T. Southorn, C.M.C.) and Mrs. Southorn, Lady Fo Tung and the Hon. Dr. Tso were also presunt.
There was perfect weather—if a little on the cold side-on- both days and it was hoped that with the Now Territories look- ing their best, a large number of people would be present. Actual- ly both attendance and number of exhibits showed a falling off, though in some sections the quality was perhaps better. It can- not be said that progress is being made with the Show, and this aspect is dealt with by our representative.
MORE ACTIVE POLICY NEEDED.
H.E. Sir William and Lady Peel were received as the entrance to the show grounds by the Chairman of the Agricultural Association, Mr. Fung Ki Cheuk, Mr. C. M. Man nors, O.B. E., the Vien-Chairman, and Mr. J. D. Bush, the English Hon. Serrotary. A Guard of Hon-
our of Boy Socute and Chinese Police Reserves was provided, and the Nationas Anthem was played By

I had to ad mit from bitter experience that he was quite right.

Make It Look Attractive, This question of staging applies generally. It is not easy, but the ourly rough and ready period in the Show's devolopment should havg been pasand, especially as a number of exhibitors seem to have grasped the elements of choosing their pro- dues for quality and not mero size, and for saleeting specimens of equal size and appearance, rather

The Territories are greatly in- debted to Lady Ho Tung, who has their interests so much at heart, for her experimental work, which has been meat helpful, and also for her anancial assistance. n
There were quite a number of plump wall-prepared hens, that roused one's hopes for the Chinese farmyard fowl. Ducka, as usual, were sleek and attractive. There were some fancy size Rhode Islands, several Leghorns, and fow turkeys and geose.
