Tab Christians Mayting of the Fauling Hunt and Race Club wna favoured with excellent weather, as a result of which a very large crowd hade the journey to Fanling to see the sport, taxing all avalable. railway and bus accommodation.

Among those present at the course were His Excellency tan Governor Sir Willam Peel, and Lady Peel, Major General J. W. Stadlands. Hon Mr. W. 2. L. Sherton, Flon. Mr. C. Qorden Mackie, Mr. T. E. Peares, Mr. R. M. Dyer, Mr. L. Unbar and many others prominently connected with rating in Hong Kong,
Honours were fairly evenly divided and some of the racer were krenly canbested. The Volunteers' Cup was won by Mr. Butler on White Stars. Mr. Stanton's Tom won the St. Nicholas Handicap and the Chrismas "Steeplechase was wan, appropriately enough, by Christmas Belle, belonging to Mr. Honed, Another of Mr Heard's ponies, Royal Flush, won the Sha Tau Kok Handicap.
Although no big dividends were paid out, the pari-mutuel bet- ting was well patronised and must have Been in the nature of a record. The esh sweeps also were extremely popular.

The first raze ̃dafw" four stafförs, Wattle, Caulfeld. The Bustard, and Thunderclap. The first-named was a red-hot favourite.
Thandersing led by many lengths the race but dropped out of the picture after the first mile. Wattle led when a mile from home and was never headed again.

Edenbridge threw his jockey, Mr. Carroll, and did not start with the rest of the field. The Quail got well away and remained in the front throughout although he was Photly, challonged at the finish by Mr Pan on Bridge Hall. The third place full to Bhue. Heaven which came up with a big rush in the lane quarter.

The Postmaster General informed 43 on Saturday that he had mor received a reply to the colegrain arnt about the Christmas parcel) mail and the Abnormal. Importa- tions Customs Dution Act.. It ap poara that, presumably, the new duties will be applied to articles acnt by this mail unless ther bre Empire produce. The position thep is that the addressees of duty pre- paid parcela in, this mail will not have to pay any duty, but it is very possible that the Hong Kong Post Office will have to collect the extra duties tem the senders of parcels at this ond..
There is, howower, an entirely different type of parcel consisting of all packages containing articles which at the time of posting were not dubiable, but which are duti able when they arrive in England.
Mr. Hamilton added: So far I can 800, tira addressees must be called upon to pay the duty a. they would be im ullenses where duty is not propaid. I have no precise details of what this means. but as las ay I can see the actual Christmas mail of November 20 will be caught by this thurd schedule which has just appeared and linen goods, taless Empire produce, will be dutiable.

The 1st Kowloon (St. Andrew's) Troop of Boy Scout. were hosts to friends and ex-members of the Troop on Saturday at St. Andrew's Church Hall. Those "present in- eluded tho.
