MOTHER CRIES IN COURT:

Prosecuting in a case in which two Chinese women were charged with taking part in a tranzaction of a five-year-old child, Inspector Fraser of the 8.0.A. ́told the Ma gistrato yesterday that it was one of those casual cases which bis De- parment had been, trying so hard, to suppress.

One of the women concerned was the child's mother and the wis charged with transferring the child to the other defendant. It was stated that she transferred the child to the other woman for the sam of $100.as vinegar and ginger. money. Both "women burst luto tears when in Court and it was then that the mother stated that. she was forced to give up her child because of sheer poverty. She now wanted the girl back

The Magistrate remarked that the prosecution, was not pressing the case so he would impose a fine, of 825 on the mistress while a, cou- tion was registered against the mother.
