With under two thousand Japanese troops in the Nogal River district, inclusive of reserves at Taonan, the Japanese forces are faced by twenty thousand Chinese troops which are concentrating south of Auganchi, and are threatening to launch a counter-attack. Increas ing apprehension is expressed in official circles, of a possibility of serious developments in northern Manchuria.

It is officially stated that an agreement. kas been reached. between the Japanese and the authorities in the Native City, whereby the latter will be allowed to re-enter and clear up the 300 metres' neutral zone.
Preliminary steps have been taken, but it is not likely that the clearing up process will will start until daylight.
