"Pardon Us," the Stae Laurel- Oliver Hardy comedy now showing at the Queen's Theatre, is on the whole one of the funniest films that havo over been shown in the Co lony. Perhaps a little too much is made of a certain American ver bal gesture of contempt—which may bo humour in Amerion but is the essence, of vulgarity in England- but apart from the fooling of die tasto which this will engender in the minds of the fastidious,, oga: may be assured of leaving the theatro after the performance with one' appetite for humour of the lighter kind for oner antiated.

The producers claim that in this film they have travestied modura. prison pictures,' a'claim that every one who sees the film will sub- atantiate.

The story deals with the adven- turor of two amateur bootleggers who are caught and imprisoned at the outset of their career. Their antics in a large penitentiary, their attempts at breaking prison and the unintentional quelling of a serious riot by Stan Laura) us- ing a Thomson "sub-macbipe gun about which he knows nothing, have been very humourously trent- ed by the producer.
