\PINEAPPLE SHERBET.
Out one pineapple into slices, and chop it coarsely, pour over two quarts of water (cold), add the juice of one lemon, swesten to taste, strain into a large jug. Just be fore, serving add a few pieces of ice.
Rhubarb and Prune Drink.
Soak half a pound of prunes overnight, put them into a sauce pan with the thinly peeled rind of two lemons, stew for an hour, press out all the juice from the prunes, strain the liquid and leave to cool. Wipe three large sticks of rhubarb, ent into pieces, put into, a three- pint jug, add one pound of loaf sugar, fill the jug with boiling water. When coil, strain and add the juice of the lemons and prunç juice. Stir well and bottle.
Egg Lemonade. An excellent shampoo can be made by Alling a basin with hot water and standing in it a stone jar containing a pound of soft. green soap and half pint of mothy- lated spirit. Bo careful not to stand this mixture near a flame. When it is dissolved and you havo allowed about two hours for the olive oil to penetrate the scalp, wet the head with hot water, pour a little of the soap mixture over and give the head a good brisk rubbing. Rinse off with hot water, then re- peat the shampoo. When you feel it is thoroughly cleansed and in- vigorated by rubbing, rinse every particle of soap out, taking two or three waters if necessary. Final ly, rinse with the juice of a lemon or half a cupful of vinegar, after which a jug of tepid water should be poured over. Dry hy rubbing with hot towels.

But these quick sunburns are not. without risk both to one'a appeari ance and one's health. Instead of returning brown and handsome one may come home blistered and peeling. To severe. and sudden burning may result few hours, later in severe chills, high temperature, headache, and vomiting; and I have seen D patient with mild diabetes fall into severe diabetic coma following sun- burn. The reason, for these symp- toms is the absorption of poisonous substances from a widespread ares of burned, dead skin, oxnetly the same thing as occurs after a severo burn from fire.
Those who are susceptible to sun- burn should be very, careful not to expose themselves and to wear a broad brios hat. Otherwise one should expose oneself at Arst for only a short period and then gradually increas the length of ex- posure. A very good precaution to take-articularly if you are going to lie in the sun after bathing is oil. In this way you may be able to first smear yourself with olive to get brown fairly quickly with little risk of blistering.
