BATSMEN: YORKSHIRE LEADING IN CHAMPIONSHIP TABLE,
(THROUGH REUTER'S AGENCY.]
LONDON, July 24.
Cricket enthusiasts at Home have been provided with plenty of bright cricket these Inst few weeks and the matches which com menced last Wednesday were no exception as will be seen by the reilte cabled through. by Reuter. Reports of some gruelling battles between the bat and the hall have come to land and in the mid-week programme there were instances of brilliant recoveries after the bowlers had had things their own way,
Despite the fact that no less than fourteen batsmen "entercu the land of the magical three Ggures, some very remarkable bowl- ing analyses were returned, the most outstanding of which were credited to Verity (14 for 84), Freeman (15 for 144), and "Farmer"' White ( for 72).

WARWICK ». NOTTS.
HIGH SCORING MATCH.
High scoring was the order of the day when these teams met at Birmingham, and as both sides top- ped the "500 mark in their first innings, there was no time left for further play, so that the game was decided in one innings, Notts get- ting the points.
Warwick batted first and collared the Notts attack right from the start, so that things looked pretty bad for the visitors when the. home' team scored 511 for 3 wickets, de. clared. Bates made 103 and Croom 159 and they had very able support from the rest of their side.
Not to be outdone, the men from Notts started their innings with the grim determination to dio and this policy paid, for they
