The mammoth demonstration, which was carried out without disorders despite the enthusiasm of the participants, officially launched campaign. which is designed to continue through the sessions of the 72nd Congress which will convene in Washington in December.
Senators Hawer and Pittman, as' advocates of independence for the Philippines, pledged to Senator Osmena and Speaker' Roxas their support in favour of the indepen- denca demands of the Filipino people, who contend that after 33 years of American rule they are. prepared to govern themselves as an independent state free from the sovereignty of the United States.
