The American Consul General, Mr. D. Jenkins, and members of the American community were "at home" to their friends on Satur day at the American Club, in cele- bration of Independence Day."

There was a very large gathering at the Club, the guests being met by the Consul General, at the door. Most of the guests were introduced to Suntor Pittman of the United States Senate who was in the Colony at the time

The toast of "His Majesty King George' was proposed by Jenkins while that of "The President of the United States was proposed by the chief Justice, Sir Joseph Komp.

In the evening, there were mandy private celebrations of the Amori can National Day by members of the American community through out the Colony, all of which wore greatly enjoyed, "
