When Paremcunt starred Nancy Carroll in The Devil's Holiday" several months ago, it started what socms now to be a dramatic tradi tion. For the inefiably competent Miss Carroll renews her meritorious werk in the heavy trappings of serious-sided protonding when sho protrays the role of the misunder- stood Peggy Gibson in "Laughter" at this Theatre to-day.

In "The Devil's Holiday" sho was soon so the gold-digger type- of girl who finally was brought to a roalisation of life's humbler joys through tragic circumstancos. Int "Laughter" she is seen as an ex- Follice girl who marries a man of wealth, albeit a man of years con siderably more advanced than her Fown. ́ ́ It is this"Lontínual lack of confidence: in her; his failure to understand the youthful psychology of her gay spirit for play which forms the plct fabric.
