WITH A BRILLIANT CENTURY.

DISAPPOINTING GAME AT MANCHESTER: THE BATTLE

OF THE ROSES,

Chief interest in the home cricket programme, which started over the week-end, was centred on the Lanenshire-Yorkshire match Manchester but rain seriously interferred with the match which resulted, after some tame, play, in a win for Yorkshire on the first inning.

The, Middlesex-Sussex match at. Headquarters also drew a large. crowd as it had been set aside for Hendren's benefit, his second Pat celebrated the occasion in 'fitting fashion, for Middlesex, knocking the bowling all over the ground to store 120 runs

Some fine bowling analyses were returned and there were several cases where individual centuries were recorded, C. S. Dempster, the New Zealander, registered his third century of the four against Clatuorgan while his team-mate, G. L. Weir, played his first three-figure innings in England in the same match.
