The magistrato (Mr. Hay Hal bett) asked her if, as a woman of the world, she did not know that it was a risky thing to take up with strange people.

"Well," answered Mrs. Hamilton, "I spoke to him in the oxcitement of London. I didn't see any rea- son to snub him. I didn't know London. I know better now."

Showing Her Round. Newman, said Mrs. Hamilton, offered to take her round. About February 2 shu invited him in, and as ba showed every indication of staying for some time, she wrote Bome letters. Ho remained and lit a cigarette. She had to leave the room for a moment, and when she returned, he said that, he would be going. He then said "goodbye" and left. Sho had doubted the wisdom of leaving him alone with her handbag containing £20 on the table. She looked into her bag

"I do not know that I have any deanite plans for the immediate future," Mrs. Napier said "I shall go straight home."

She was told that her son Caril and daughter, Miss Phyllis Napier, were waiting to greet her on the dockside. Mrs. Napier said she was overjoyed to hear it, and a steward was sent to tell them where they could find their mother. A few minutes later there was a re union in the saloon..

Mrs Napier returned to her home in Kensington, S.W. There Mies Napier told a news paper re- presentative:

"My mother had no chance to benefit from her trip, and she is not well. She is confined to her room.
