_Some_idea of the meaning and the nature of the fourth con ference of the Institute of Pacific Relations, which will be held at Hangchow at the end of October and first week of November this year, was given yesterday to members of the Rotary Club by Dr. Z. T. Yui, General Secretary of the National Committee of the Y.M.C.A in China.

Dr. Yui traced the history of the Institute and pointed out that attendance at the Conference was not confined to inen only, but officials, especially Government officials, were not allowed. No. resolutions were to be pessed and the work generally consisted of free and outspoken discussions of various Pacific problems, the ob- jeet being to ercate an atmosphere of goodwill and understanding between the nations bordering the Pacific.

..

It was indicated at the discussion following the address that the Hon. Mr. W. E. L. Shenton will be one ofvis fifteen British delegates to the Conference.
