A SOCIAL SURVEY OF LONDON.
Ir is frequently asserted that con ditions of life among the Britich working olnesca havo considerably improved during the course of this present century. To support this nacertion statistics of all kinds are quoted, and these statistics are con vincing enough. They show that greater attention is now paid than over before to human welfare, and that there is a clearer eonception of the duty of society as a whole to each individual member of the community. But the information is not co-ordinated and as isolated. pieces of evidenco it loses much of its force.
Now a social survey of the life and labour of Londoners is being made. All the varied evidence available is being collected, sifted, and co-ordinated that a com- ploto picture will be available to the students of social affairs. The first volume, which is really of an introductory character, hna been published under the title of HONG KONG, FERUARY 19, 1931. The Now Survey of London Life
