OVERDOSE TAKEN IN TURKİSH BATH..

The story of a daughter who was so devoted to her father that she

refused offers of marriage was told nt a Westminster inquest on Eather Julia Telfer (42), a solicitor, who practised with her father in Basing- hall-strcot, E.C..

Mina Telfer was found uncon- scious at Turkish baths in North- umberland-avenue, W.C.

Death was stated to be due to an -overdose of medinal, and Mr. Ingle- by Oddie returned verdict of "Deathly misadventure" after the father, Mr. William Telfer Levinneki, had made a passionate donial of a suggestion that hig daughter had committed suicide.

Mr. Levianaki said the only drug be found at their home in Aberdare- gardens, Hampstead, was medinal, which the doctor had prescribed for her as a 'slerping draught.

Has your daughter ever said anything about being tired of life the coroner asked Mr. Levianski..'

Mr. Levianski: No. She was de- voted to me. She had make ar- rangements to see some children with some Christmas presents, and was going to the South of France with me at the end of January,

"Dovolod, to Me"

The Coroner: If you assume for pomoat that she has died from some form of narcotic poisoning, how do you account for it?

Mr. Lovianski said that she had heen to the baths only once pro- riously, and he thought that she was qvercome after taking a sleep ing draught in the hottest room at the baths.

The Coroner: No powders word found, and she must have taken a very large quantity.

Mr. Oddie added that in his own mind he, had a strong feeling that this was a case of suicide.

Mr. Levianski said that there was absolutely no reason for suicide.. She was so devoted to me that she had refused offers of marrage," he added.

"She loved her father.

There was absolutely no reason for aui- aide."

The Coroner: How many times do you think I have had that said to I daresay thousands of times, Your view is that it was a caso of accident and not suicide,-Yes.

A Doep Stoop,

Maisie Ashenden, an attendant et the baths, said that while in the cooling room Miss Telfer asked for a glass of water. She had tea and

a sandwich, and lay down. Just after 8.30 p.m. she found Sias Tel- fer in a heavy sleep. She was re- moved to Westminster Hospital.

Dr. Braxton Hicks, a pathologist, in reply to the coroner, said that if a person had taken a drug oc casionally for sleeplessness and per- haps increased the dose following the urgent need for a good rest while in the Turkish bath it would possibly produce narcotic poison- ing,

Mr. Oddis, recording his verdict,
